Join us at the UF/IFAS Extension Office to learn how to preserve your own food! This hands-on experience will focus on the pickling process for cucumbers and more. You will be able to take your food home, so please bring a box with you as the jars will still be hot.

ServSafe Food Manager’s Class and Exam

The University of Florida's Food Safety and Quality Program is dedicated to providing training which enables food managers and staff to offer Florida consumers food that is prepared in a clean and safe environment.

Water Bath and Pressure Canning

Join us to learn the basics of canning! This hands-on experience will focus on two canning methods, water bath and pressure canning. You will be able to take your food home, so please bring a box with you as the jars will still be hot.
Green Industries Best Management Practices Workshop
May 15 | 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
program for people working in lawn-care and landscape maintenance. The GI-BMP program teaches environmentally safe landscaping practices that help preserve and protect Florida's ground and surface waters.
Backyard Chicken Training Class
May 15 | 10 am - 12 pm
Learn all about raising and caring for chickens in urban environments! This class is taught virtually in partnership with UF/IFAS Extension Orange County.
May Madness Plant Fundraiser
May 18 | 9 am - 12 pm
Mark your calendars! The Brevard Discovery Garden is hosting its last fundraiser before fall! This event will be all about Caladiums, Cannas, Berries & More! Of course, we will also have native and Florida-friendly plants available, along with Louisiana Irises, heat-tolerant tomato plants, herbs, and vegetables. Donations received at the fundraiser will be used to cover the cost of new tables needed in the nursery to hold propagated plants and for displaying plants at fundraisers. All donations are Cash or Check.
In addition to checking out the plants that are available for adoption, you can also stroll through the garden and learn about Improving Soil Health and get all of your burning butterfly gardening questions answered! To sign up for these free events, check out the Eventbrite links below!

Mental Health First Aid Training
May 29 | 9 am - 4 pm
Become certified in Mental Health First Aid! This is a skills-based training that teaches people how to identify, understand, and respond to signs and symptoms of a mental health or substance use challenge. Like physical First Aid and CPR, MHFA helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis until professional assistance is obtained or the crisis is resolved.
Florida Master Naturalist Program - Freshwater Restoration

Learn about the challenges and strategies associated with the restoration of freshwater environments. This course covers topics such as: How to enhance & restore ecological functions, Actions citizens can implement, Small-scale and large-scale strategies, and more.

Brevard County Farmers Market
Every Thursday at the Regional Pavilion inside Wickham Park | 3 pm - 6 pm
Join us at the market to discover a variety of homemade food from local businesses! There are many unique products like grass-fed beef, Fresh from Florida produce, spices, honey, jams, coffee, nut butters, microgreens, edible plants, a variety of baked goods and vegan desserts, olive oil, salsas, and more! We also participate in the Fresh Access Bucks (FAB) token program! This program allows SNAP recipients to buy fresh produce and other goodies with their food stamp benefits.
